The Fives — The Official VeeFriends MLP Pickleball Team
In 2022, VeeFriends CEO and Founder GaryVee, alongside Ryan Harwood, CEO of Gallery Media Group, purchased an MLP professional pickleball team, The Fives. GaryVee and Ryan Harwood saw purchasing an MLP team as an opportunity to channel their competitive spirits and contribute to the sport’s growth.
Introducing The Fives 2024 Roster
No longer “The New Jersey 5s”, now just “The Fives” this team brings together a dynamic roster of players ready to make their mark on the court. Led by standout athletes like Anna Leigh Waters, the world #1 player, who returns to the team after a hiatus, alongside talents like Zane Navratil, Mariana Humberg, and Will Howells, the New Jersey 5s are poised to showcase their talent and compete at the highest level. With a collective DUPR of 24.93 and donning a new logo for the 2024 season, they are set to deliver thrilling matches and solidify their place among the league’s elite teams.
The Structure of Major League Pickleball
Major League Pickleball (MLP) offers two levels of competition: MLP Premier Level and MLP Challenger Level. Each level features twelve co-ed teams of four, consisting of two men and two women. MLP Premier Level showcases the top 48 players, renowned for their impressive track records and high DUPR Ratings. These elite teams represent the pinnacle of pickleball competition, with Challenger Level players striving to earn their spots. MLP Challenger Level provides a platform for the next generation of talent, with 48 up-and-coming players competing in twelve teams. This level offers an opportunity for new faces to shine and seasoned players to ascend to Premier, promising excitement and the emergence of future stars.
